God’s Tap on the Shoulder

The wonderful feature of spiritual awakening is the profound belief that God is present, good and just. Once a person truly believes that, conviction becomes a gift they embrace. Conviction is God’s tap on the shoulder saying, “You’re heading (or you’ve gone) in the wrong direction.” It is God’s way of inviting you to restore your relationship with Him. Conviction is a blessing.”

So what does one do once convicted? It’s easy. Confess your sin to God and know that you will be forgiven if your heart is honest and you truly intend not to repeat your behavior.

But wait, you say, “I can’t be perfect.” That’s okay. God knows that…and He knows your heart. If you err again, you’ll confess again. There is no follower of God who is without a repentant heart. Let the verses below give you encouragement that conviction is meant to restore your fellowship with God.

John 16:8 “And when He (the Holy Spirit of God) comes, He will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.”  (parenthesis mine)

Jeremiah 30:17 ‘But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declare the LORD.

Psalm 23:3 He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.”

Also, always remember, if you care to be one with God, you can accept His GIFT of eternal life. Christ Jesus died on a cross for our sins. He was raised from the dead and is seated at the right hand of God. This will never change. All a person has to do to be right with God is to confess and believe…this means turning your heart to following God with the intent of being ONE with Him.
